All,
I wanted to provide you with an update to the Army – Navy Party survey that I sent out last week and to tell you about an opportunity to provide some wounded warriors with a chance to come to Annapolis and watch the Army – Navy game as our guests.
First the update:
1. 40 individuals took the time to reply to my email with responses to the questions – thanks to all who responded!
2. 25 indicated that they would either be attending the game in Philadelphia or had other plans (out of town, class or family get together, etc.)
3. 15 responded that they would be interested in attending a Chapter party and by a tally of 9 to 6, menu #2 (the Adam’s Ribs menu) was the favorite.
4. We are currently at 40 people interested in the Chapter party based on the answer to the last question.
In my original email I indicated that we had to have 40 – 50 people attend (and pay) in order for us to continue into the planning phase of the party. Based on the numbers, I believe we have enough interest to go forward, however we will need a minimum of 50 people in order to have the room fee and bartender fee waived; otherwise the $18 per member/$23 per non-member fee will have to go up slightly. The venue for the party is The Club at Greenbury Point (the 19th Hole at the USNA Golf Course) and the caterer will be Adam’s Ribs.
I will send out an email with a formal invitation by the end of this week with the remaining details about the venue, how to sign up, etc.
Opportunity:
I have been contacted by an alumnus (Mike Bluestein ’71) who lives in the Annapolis area and he and his wife we’re going to invite some wounded servicemen and women from Walter Reed Army Hospital to their home to watch the game but were facing space and transportation issues. Our Chapter party provided them with a possible solution to the space problem and the result of our phone conversation was an agreement to further investigate the logistics of reaching out to our wounded warriors and having them join us on December 12th. This would be a wonderful opportunity to provide these men and women who have sacrificed a great deal for the freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis with an afternoon of good food and good fun and to let them know they are appreciated. I will follow up with more details about this opportunity as I receive them. We may also need help with transportation to and from the party for these folks.
Thanks again for your support of the Annapolis Chapter!
